Ellie shouts excitedly "Adventure is out there!" Unfortunately, I've never really lived by those words in the sense that I'm a very antisocial person on the whole; travelling off the beaten track and trying new things has always terrified me. However, I think today was a notable exception.
Today I travelled up to London with some of my favourite people, and for the most part it was a successful day. We got so much done I'm having trouble remembering it all, even though I write this blog post from a train on the way home.
First stop was Covent Garden - a firm favourite of mine. I always seem to gravitate there whenever I'm visiting London, and I'm not sure if it's due to the general atmosphere and liveliness of the place, or the awesome sweet shop we can only ever find there (Hope and Greenwood: a darling little shop).
We mooched around Covent Garden for a while and during the whole time we were there, I only managed to take one decent picture, of some old houses I thought looked pretty. Really, Olivia?! All the vibrancy of Covent Garden and you take a picture of some houses? Best Blogger Of The Year goes to me (hehe, NOT).
We then headed on over to Spitalfields, a darling little vintage and antique market. I'd never been here until today and I think it was my favourite place of the day, simply because I got to sniff a lot of posh candles in a lovely shop we found by the market. (I have a slight obsession with candles, okay? Please don't judge me.)
After this we decided to hit up Camden Market, a place that had always intrigued me, but I had always been too afraid to visit because I'd heard of its supposed suspiciousness. However, I surprised myself by loving the market. The brightly coloured stalls selling trinkets and food carts offering exotic cuisine were truly a feast for the senses, and I found standing by the canal particularly relaxing, especially as we were fortunate enough to have nice, sunny weather. Have a picture of my feet perched over the canal.
To conclude the day we went back towards Southbank, which I love. I find watching the Thames and strolling along the embankment a perfect way to spend a summer's evening; and even better, Southbank was hosting a "Festival Of Love", which was really nice, as the whole embankment was adorned with posters outlining the different types of love: for example, self respect, romantic love, flirty affection, and shared experiences. I thought this was simply lovely (get it, LOVEly? Okay, I'll stop now).
Sunshine and some of my favourite people - I couldn't have asked for a better day.
Hope you all had a good day!
Olivia x
