Return To Lyme Regis - Dorset #7

Hello friends! Welcome to the seventh post of my Dorset mini-series! Get ready for a fortnight of pictures and posts in which I will attempt to do my summer holiday justice. Here's hoping that the holiday will be good, I'll remember to post every day, and that the cottage we're staying at has wifi (fingers crossed). Thank you for deciding to join me on this little adventure - I can't tell you how much this means to me!

Another day at Dorset, everyone!

Today we decided to have a picnic (read the previous post) and head to Lyme Regis to have it. I know, I know - we went on Wednesday, but we loved it so much as a town and thought it our favourite place so far, so were very keen to return.

Our 'picnic' as such consisted of San Pellegrinos (mmm), French bread, gammon ham, and posh crisps, and we ate it on the beach overlooking the sea. It was lovely, although the weather wasn't particularly brilliant (overcast seemed to be the order of the day). I don't really think you need to see any more pictures of Lyme Regis beach, do you? I haven't included any, because I've already blogged about Lyme Regis, but if you're desperate to check them out then visit my Dorset #5 post (good promo, Olivia).

After lunch, we lazed around on the beach, until I decided that retail therapy was on the cards. My mum and I headed to Lyme Regis' town centre to check out some of the quirky shops we'd spotted but hadn't visited on Wednesday. As it was our first time navigating our way to the town centre, we went the long way round to get to the shops by accident, which involved climbing a very steep hill. But I did manage to get some decent photos, and that's all that matters, right?

We made it to the town centre eventually and were rewarded with the most beautiful street lined with antique and one-off stores. The bunting was also really, really cute.

After a meander through all of the various shops in which I got excited about jelly moulds, cooed over jumpers with ducks on them and sniffed a lot of candles but didn't buy ANYTHING, we wandered back alone the beachfront to regroup with the other half of the family. On the way we stopped for an ice cream - because let's face it, there is ALWAYS time for a ice cream.

The plan for the evening was then to visit the Hive Beach Cafe at Burton and Bradstock beach for dinner. We'd visited this place last year and loved the food, so wanted to recapture the memories (so to speak). The entire menu at the Hive Beah Cafe is fish, so if you're not a fish lover I wouldn't recommend it, but if you are a real seafood nut then you'll enjoy it immensely. I did.

We then headed back home, where I gorged myself on Lindt chocolate and typed out this blog post. The perfect night in.

And that concludes the latest day of Dorset! Sorry it's a bit short (I didn't want to repeat myself with regards to Lyme Regis having been visited before). Tomorrow will be a little bit of a different post, more exciting perhaps, because we'll be doing something quite different to the rest of the holiday' activities. I'll leave you hanging with that one (it'll give you an excuse to read tomorrow's post)!

Check back tomorrow for Dorset #8!
