Drizzle was what taunted the Fahy family this morning. It jeered and mocked us as we groaned at the weather and attempted to work out what we could do for the day that didn't involve being outside too much. Bowling was eventually decided upon, and since there was the dog to consider, my mum opted to stay at home and watch Dusty while my dad, my brother and I went bowling. So we 'divided and conquered' today (cool, huh? That phrase makes the day sound a lot more dramatic than it actually was).
Before I continue, let me warn you that I am rubbish at bowling, and air hockey too, apparently. The sad truth is that while I am under no illusions as to my lack of prowess at bowling, I had previously thought that I was quite good at air hockey. Not any more.
My dad, my brother and I played two games of bowling. I lost both. Not just lost, but CAME LAST IN. By about thirty points. Woop woop, go me! Throughout the whole of the two games, I only managed one strike, and even then the computer tallying up our scores refused to count it and gave me a score of seven instead (whaaat?). I think it was faulty, because I most definitely got a strike in the second game, and I know because I went wild when I did. I also managed to lose all four games of air hockey I played against my brother and dad. Quite how, I do not know. Maybe it's because I spent so much time attempting to hit the puck that I forgot to defend my own goal. Or maybe it's because the air hockey table was at a slant, favouring my opponents in the other side. Or maybe I'm just really bad at air hockey. *sighs* I know, I should probably just accept it. I will never be good at air hockey.
I was so preoccupied bowling that this daily posting thing I'm trying did not cross my mind until the very end of the two games, when I managed to snap one measly picture of the bowling alley - so that's below, if you really want to see it.
After bowling we were HUNGRY (turns out losing helped me work up quite an appetite), and the slushie I'd consumed whilst bowling hadn't done much for my stomach, so we headed to KFC *drools over keyboard*. I had a BBQ American Bites Meal with fries and a Pepsi. I regret nothing.
On the way home, we thought we'd just quickly pop into the nearest Tesco's to buy some rice cakes and milk as requested by mother, but we ended up finding what must be the poshest Tesco's in England and buying food from there. No exaggeration. It was a massive building with archways at the entrance and matching trimmed bushes either side of it. Oh, and did I mention the four fountains in front of the store that gently spewed water as we entered the car park (via a roundabout, of course)? I felt decidedly lower class wheeling a trolley around the store.
Added to the strangely affluent Tesco's, we also ended up purchasing an awful lot of food items that (let's be honest here) we didn't really need. It was one of those visits where you pass the confectionary aisle and just pick up an item on a whim, and before you know it you're flinging posh mousses and giant vats of lemonade into your trolley (not literally: it would make a huge mess and quite possibly knock someone out) and spending a lot more than you had anticipated. Oh well. At least our fridge is now stuffed full of glorious foods.
We later rejoined forces with my mum, and then went out for dinner at a pub called The Crown Inn at Uploader's. We visited this place last year and loved it; this evening was no different. I had Catch Of The Day and then Vanilla and Honeycomb ice cream. The food and service were both amazing, and I always love to visit this pub because its interior is so cute (Pinterest worthy, definitely). When we arrived, we saw that they'd written the family surname (Fahy) on a little chalkboard easel and propped it on the table reserved for us! How cute is that? (I wish I'd taken a picture of that... Damn. It really was adorable.)
Hope you enjoyed this slightly short post - tomorrow I shall attempt to make up for it and will post a beautiful, detailed account of our day, complete with expertly shot HD pictures and perfect grammar...
It's unlikely, but we live in hope.
